Of the 73.51 lakh voters in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction, verification of 57.75 lakh voters has been completed for linking Aadhaar with Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC). The GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer, Somesh Kumar, after a review meeting on Friday, said ‘door lock’ was recorded for 10.34 lakh voters during the process.
Though verification was completed for 57.75 lakh voters, linking of Aadhaar was completed for only 20.28 lakh voters, he said while directing officials to expedite the process, said a release.
The teams, comprising Ministers, elected representatives and officials constituted for 400 units during the ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ programme will again be visiting the areas assigned to them in the city from June 17.
Panel gets more teeth
The State government on Friday issued orders expanding the scope of the elected representatives’ committee for the GHMC by adding two subjects – improving traffic situation in GHMC area and review of issues related to land revenue in HMDA area. The orders also included the incorporation of M.D. Saleem, MLC, as a member of the committee.
