UoH student attempts suicide by falling from third floor

A student of University of Hyderabad here allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from the third floor of his hostel building on the university campus after Monday midnight, the police said.

Birbal Koizora, second-year student of five-year integrated course of Language Sciences, was admitted to a corporate hospital at Gachchibowli. He was being treated for multiple fractures, Madhapur DCP of Cyberabad Vishwa Prasad said on Tuesday.

Reasons behind his suicide attempt were yet to be ascertained, the police said. A statement from UoH officials said Birbal “fell down” from third floor of his hostel building around 12.30 a.m. on Tuesday. On hearing sound, inmates of the hostel rushed out and found him lying on the floor with multiple fractures.

They first shifted him to the medical room on the campus and then to a private hospital in Gachchibowli. Dean of Students Welfare of UoH had visited the hospital.
