Two held for ‘stealing’ mobile phones

Officials of the Central Zone’s task force arrested two siblings who were involved in five cases of mobile phone theft. The duo, Waseem and Shakeel Qureshi, natives of Meerut, would divert the attention of car owners at busy junctions in the city and then steal their phones. A third accused, who was also involved in the crimes, Mohammed Asif, is yet to be arrested. According to the police, Waseem and Shakeel used to operate mainly under the limits of Saifabad police station, at places near Dwaraka hotel, the All India Radio office, Ranga Reddy Collectorate office and Masab Tank. After their arrest, the task force team recovered two mobile cell phones and Rs. 40,300.
