Two boys drown

Two boys, V. Tarun Teja, 7, and K. Srikar, 6, were found dead in a water-filled pit at Gunthapally tank in Hayathnagar police station area on Tuesday.

Residents of Gayatrinagar in Anajipura, the boys apparently went to the tank area for playing. “As part of Mission Kakatiya, pits were dug in the tank area. The boys must have stepped inside one of them unaware that it was shallow,” Hayathnagar Inspector J. Narender Goud said. It was Teja’s birthday on Tuesday. “Teja was in second standard while Srikar was in first standard. They were missing from 5 p.m.,” the police said. While searching the area, residents found bodies of the boys in a pit full of water.

Dies in wall collapse

Mallesh alias Madhu, 30, a worker engaged by a contractor died when side wall of a stormwater drain collapsed and fell on him at Malkajgiri on Tuesday. The victim was cleaning the drain when the wall collapsed on him, the police said.
