With the arrest of three people from Visakhapatnam, the city police on Saturday busted an inter-state drug peddling gang and seized 26 kg of ganja.
Following a tip-off, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, East Zone, apprehended them while they were supplying ganja at Langer Houz here.
The accused were identified as K. Rambabu (30), K. Prasanth (23) and K. Indira (23), all natives of Visakhapatnam. Prasanth and Indira are students. During interrogation, they confessed to have been facing financial trouble that prompted them to make a quick buck by supplying/transporting ganja to Hyderabad and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Three days ago, a man named Sudershan handed over 26 kg of the contraband to the trio and asked them to transport it to a customer in the city and alerted one of his accomplices, Mahesh, to monitor their movements.
“On Saturday morning, they reached Secunderabad railway station and came to Langer Houz to pass on the ganja. While waiting for the customer, the police apprehended them,” said S. Chaitanya Kumar, Additional DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force. He said the prime accused Sudarshan and Mahesh are currently absconding.
