The Sunrisers Hyderabad underwent rigorous training at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Uppal on Wednesday, assembled for the first time ahead of IPL season 2014.
Head coach Tom Moody and mentors Krishnamachari Srikkanth and V.V.S. Laxman monitored the training programme with the help of support staff. India stars Shikhar Dhawan and Amit Mishra were among the players who were present at the session. The foreign players, who were absent, would join the team in UAE, where the first-leg of the IPL would be held.
The team will have its ‘nets’ only for a couple of days before flying to UAE when SRH begins its campaign. The team was placed fourth place in its maiden season last year.
Some big names like Ishant Sharma and Irfan Pathan bowled their heart out in the nets, even while batsmen like Anirudha Srikkanth, Venugopala Rao faced them to fine-tune some rough edges with the willow.
“The mood is high and we are confident of putting up a better show this time around,” Srikkanth said during a brief interaction.
