The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSSPDCL) has decided to take up maintenance works pertaining to air-break (AB) switches, proper earthing of distribution transformers (DTRs), conductors and others on war-footing to ensure uninterrupted power supply during ensuing summer season in Greater Hyderabad.

A review meeting was conducted by Director (Operations) J. Sreenivasa Reddy with all Superintending and Divisional Engineers of the operation wing here on Tuesday. He also instructed them along with other operations and maintenance staff to be alert in attending to the electrical complaints so as to not cause inconvenience to consumers. The Director stated that energy consumption in Greater Hyderabad operating wing had touched to 53 million units (MU) during last summer and it was a record in the distribution company’s history. They were expecting the consumption to around 55 to 58 MU in the coming summer season too.

Mr. Sreenivasa Rao said various maintenance works were taken up to meet the expected demand without any operational problems.

However, the maintenance works could result 2 to 4 hours of power shutdowns in some areas of the city during the next one month, he said and added that all maintenance works were scheduled to be completed by the second week of March.
