“Happy to announce that Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety(CMRS) cleared 10 km from Mettuguda to SR Nagar. All statutory clearances in place now for Hyderabad Metro. All set for launch now” tweeted IT & Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday.
The Minister put out the tweet as soon as the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) announced that the CMRS Ram Kirpal and team from the Railway Safety Commission has issued safety clearance for the 10-km stretch from Mettuguda to S.R.Nagar.
CMRS team had inspected the civil works, track, viaduct, rolling stock, stations, electrical signalling, train control, telecommunications and other railway systems from Friday to Sunday before issuing the authorisation.
No other obstacle
It is a good enough indication that the inaugural 30-km route from Miyapur-Ameerpet-Nagole has obtained all the necessary statutory clearances which means, there is no other obstacle for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the public transport system on November 28.
CMRS had earlier cleared the Mettuguda-Nagole stretch of up to 8 km on Corridor Three - Nagole to Hi-Tec City/Raidurg and later between Miyapur to S.R.Nagar, a 12 km stretch falling on Corridor One - Miyapur to L.B.Nagar, altogether a 20 km elevated metro rail line was available for running operations.
But, apparently as the Minister himself said in a recent media interaction, the government was keen to have an ‘end to end’ connectivity linking to different ends of the capital. Hence, it has given all the go ahead for having a metro train route from Nagole to Miyapur with passengers having to move from one platform to another at Ameerpet interchange station.
L&TMRH managing director & chief executive officer Shivanand Nimbargi has remarked in a press release that it was a “great moment” for the entire team who had worked incessantly to make it happen and “minor pending works” would be completed shortly.
