Polling rises by 0.72 p.c. in Hyderabad LS constituency

The polling for Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency in the recently-concluded elections has gone up by 0.72 per cent as compared to the 2009 elections, while the polling for Secunderabad Parliament fell by 1.87 per cent.

Compared to the last elections, the total electorate in the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency has gone up from 15.75 lakh to 18.93 lakh and in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, the numbers during the last five years rose from 13.92 lakh to 18.22 lakh.

Among the seven Assembly segments of Secunderabad seat, only Nampally registered a slight rise in polling (3.40 per cent) as against 2009 elections, while the other six segments of Musheerabad, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanatnagar and Secunderabad recorded a drop.

In Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency, the polling rose as compared to the 2009 polls at Karwan (7.87 per cent), Bahadurpura (7.05 per cent) and Charminar (1.97 per cent), while a drop in polling was witnessed in the Assembly segments of Malakpet, Goshamahal, Chandrayangutta and Yakutpura.

Of the 15 Assembly constituencies that form part of the Hyderabad district, Secunderabad Cantonment is part of Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency and here too, the polling, as compared to the last election, fell by 0.85 per cent.
