The N Convention centre of film star Akkineni Nagarjuna which has been embroiled in controversy over allegations of encroaching upon the full tank level of Thammidikunta lake, is said to be removing some of the constructions from its premises.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials said they had not initiated any action against the popular convention centre but learnt of some activity being taken up by the management there to remove some of the structures. “We have come to know about some demolition work going on there and sent our staff, who from a distance, observed activity at removing some structures, apparently sheds,” said an official adding that the civic body did not serve any notice also.

The N Convention issue came up during the demolition of unauthorised ongoing constructions, taken up by the GHMC in Gurukul Trust lands last month. Following instructions from the Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao to crack the whip against illegal constructions in the city and a specific mention about the Trust lands at the prime Madhapur, the civic body staff pulled down 24 of the ongoing constructions.

In view of the allegations that the N Convention too encroached upon the buffer zone of Thammidikunta, a joint inspection team from the GHMC, police and the departments of revenue and irrigation concluded that the facility had encroached upon the FTL here. Mr. Nagarjuna then filed a case challenging the action in identifying the boundaries of the adjacent lake and sought a stay.
