Chama Vrajendra Milind is awaiting the day he will share ‘nets’ with the world’s premier fast bowler Dale Steyn of South Africa. The 19-year-old left-arm medium-pacer from the city, who represented India in the recent under-19 World Cup, is making his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in this edition of the IPL.
“Training with Steyn should be one of the most exciting moments of my career. The whole world knows what a quality bowler he is,” says the shy cricketer, who is the second youngest in the squad after 17-year-old Ricky Bhui.
“It has been a great atmosphere and I am grateful to everyone in the squad for making me feel so comfortable in my first ‘nets’ at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium,” he says after the squad’s three-day training session in Hyderabad, where he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma.
“It is a great feeling to see these wonderful fast bowlers train. I am very keen to improve and learn – not only the art of bowling, but also their training methods,” he reveals
A product of St. John’s Coaching Foundation (Secunderabad), Milind says he is pleased with words of encouragement from coach “Tom sir” (head coach Tom Moody). “He gave me some tips on how to become a better bowler and I am already working on them,” he added.
Milind will miss the first-leg of this IPL in Dubai. He idolises Aussie Mitchell Johnson and dreams of playing for India one day.
