A shop worker went to graveyard to end his life after murdering his wife in their house in Kalapather, but later surrendered before police in the early hours of Tuesday.

Twenty-five year-old Mohd. Ali strangled to death his wife Shabana Begum in their rented single room portion in Misrigunj late on Monday night. He was apparently dejected, and decided to kill himself.

“He went to nearby graveyard only to see a body being burnt there. Changing his mind, he walked into Kalapathar police station and admitted to the killing,” Charminar ACP Ashok Chakravarthy said.

The victim had three children through her first husband whom she divorced three years ago. Later, she married Ali who was three years younger to her. While her three children were living with their paternal grandparents, the woman was residing in Misrigunj with Ali.

The shop worker suspected that Begum developed illicit relationship with another person and reportedly warned her against moving with that person, the ACP said.
