Cyberabad police on Friday cracked the case of the murder of an eight-year-old boy, who had gone missing from his house at Nallagandla village in Serilingampally on February 12.
Accused Raman Patel (36), a centring worker, kidnapped the boy, sodomised him, and later strangled the child to death with the latter’s inner wear. Patel, a native of Bihar, had been working at an under-construction building at Nallagandla village, where the boy and his parents were also staying. The boy’s mother, A. Sangeetha, lodged a complaint with Chandanagar police that her son was missing. On February 22, the boy’s body was found near bushes in an open park in the village.
With the help of villagers, police identified the boy.
“We collected details from the villagers and zeroed in on Patel. With the assistance of labour contractor Mohd. Javeed, we caught Patel,” Madhapur ACP S. Sreedhar said.
