Previously, murder-accused sent to jail for killing wife’s mother, brother
The police on Monday arrested a 39-year-old man, who was sent to jail for a double murder earlier, on the charge of murdering his wife at Shaheennagar four days ago. His accomplice was also arrested on the charge of abetment to crime. Both the accused have been sent to judicial remand.
The accused, Abrar Ahmed, pounced on his wife Shaheen Begum (26) in the house and slit her throat on Thursday last. “He also injured his sister-in-law Yasmin who tried to come to her rescue,” said Pahadisharif police station Inspector D. Bhaskar Reddy. The police seized two butcher knives from Abrar.
Abrar managed to obtain bail in the double murder case two months ago and was waiting for an opportunity to kill his wife, the police said.
Abrar bore grudge against Shaheen ever since his accomplice Mohd. Sadeq (55) told him that his wife was having an illicit relationship with one Sohail, a native of Kolkata. Shaheen was married to Abrar, who hails from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. He worked in Saudi Arabia as a construction worker. Abrar made an attempt to kill Shaheen earlier in June two days after returning from Saudi Arabia. She survived but her mother Nasreen and brother Faheem who tried to save her were stabbed to death by Abrar. The police arrested Abrar.
