Minister for Municipal Administration and IT K. Taraka Rama Rao reiterated that the State government was committed to provide irrigation sources to one crore acres and make agriculture the most viable sector in the State.
Accordingly, the government was constructing irrigation projects to cater to the one crore acres, providing 24x7 power supply, distributing fertilisers for free, modernising land records and reviving the minor irrigation tanks under the Mission Kakatiya programme, he said.
The Minister visited Narmala village and Gambhiraopeta mandal headquarters on Wednesday and participated in various developmental works by laying the foundation stones for the revival of feeder channels under Mission Kakatiya programme, and electric sub-station
Welfare model
On this occasion, he said that the TRS government’s welfare schemes were a model for the entire country and added that the farmers’ lifestyle would change considerably in the coming years.
The Minister planted saplings along the shores of Narmala project and in Gambhiraopeta mandal and called upon the people to plant the saplings and protect them by watering regularly. DRO Shyam Prasad Lal was also present.
