Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would hold a meeting with the officials of Agriculture Department and the members of Farmers’ Coordination Committees on June 4 to review the progress of Rythu Bandhu Scheme and distribution of cheques and passbooks to farmers.

Agriculture Secretary C. Parthasarathi, who conducted a video conference with district officials on Friday, said the meeting to be held at Hitex exhibition centre would focus on the implementation of the insurance scheme for farmers announced by the Chief Minister recently. The scheme envisages insurance cover of ₹5 lakh for all the farmers who were given pattadar passbooks and the government pays the premium estimated at ₹2,271.5 per farmer per year.

The Revenue officials would provide details of farmers whose accounts are linked to Aadhaar cards and the agriculture extension officers would ensure that the nomination forms were filled up by all those who have enrolled under the scheme. He expressed concern over distribution of pattadar passbooks slowing down after May 20 as the department could cover only 45.73 lakh farmers.

According to an official release, he wanted the officials concerned to analyse the reasons behind the delay in the distribution of passbooks and submit reports to the government.

Officials should ensure that the distribution of passbooks to farmers who were given cheques in the first phase should be completed fast and the data should be uploaded on the Rythu Bandhu MIS portal from time to time, he said.
