The State seems to have started its journey on a positive note by registering an increase of three percentage in the first year Intermediate results that were released on Wednesday by Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari.
This year, 55.62 per cent of students cleared the Inter exam compared to 52.65 per cent last year. Of the 4,31,363 students who appeared, 2,39,954 passed the exam. Girls took a huge lead over boys as 61.68 per cent of students passed the exam while only 49.60 per cent of boys could clear the Inter. About 69.51 per cent of MPC students cleared the exam followed by BPC (62.99), MEC (61.01), CEC (37.63) and HEC (24.11). Ranga Reddy district topped the list with 71 per cent students passing the exam, while Nalgonda came last with only 43 per cent.
Interestingly, the pass percentage of girls was way ahead of boys in all the districts. The performance of government colleges was not so impressive with 48.82 per cent students clearing the exam compared to the overall pass percentage.
Students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Schools have shown improvement in their performance this year with an increase of two per cent passes compared to the previous year.
R.S. Praveen Kumar, Secretary, TSWREI Society, said that 68.94 per cent of their students cleared the exams, which is a whopping 13.32 per cent higher than the overall pass percentage.
He said seven colleges were successful in securing cent per cent results and all students in three colleges passed in first class.
Supplementary from May 25
The Minister said discrepancies, if any, found in the memorandum of marks should be referred to the Board through principals concerned before May 22.
The advanced supplementary examination will be held from May 25 and the last date for payment of examination fee is May 1.
