Awareness programmes about lifestyle ailments like diabetes, heart and kidney diseases as well as about child immunisation programmes are to be taken up in all districts by the Directorate of Field Publicity for the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting soon.

The six-month awareness drive would also make people aware of the Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) and Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) schemes. “Self-help groups, youth groups and even village elders should be roped-in to spread awareness about government projects,” said R.V.Chandravadan, Commissioner, Information and Public Relations (I&PR), participating in the one-day training programme for field publicity officers on Wednesday. “We are planning to organise close to 140 programmes including public meetings to highlight Government schemes,” said I. Hari Babu, Field Publicity Officer, Hyderabad.
