Two potentially debilitating injuries – one to the nose and the other to the back – did not deter Khursheed Hussain from reaching the top.
The 23-year old engineering graduate finally received his Guinness World Record certificate for typing a 103-word sentence within 47.44 seconds – with his nose! He performed the feat much faster than the previous record of 1 minute and 33 seconds.
An elated Khursheed thanked his family and others who helped him achieve the record, which he completed this February.
“With that, I now hold two records, the other one is typing English alphabets with space in 3.43 seconds,” he said at his felicitation programme organised here on Tuesday.
Mr. Hussain reminisced his training under former Indian body-building coach Mohtesham Ali. He would run five kilometres every day.
“Regular exercise improves blood circulation and keeps one’s senses sharp,” he said.
However, a problem arose: his nasal bone was injured in May last year, after which he was advised not to use his nose to type anymore. “I was injured because I was practicing on a typewriter. So, I switched to a keyboard, which was easier to practise on,” he reveals.
Khursheed’s feat has earned him worldwide fame, as his achievements were also reported in international newspapers. He is all set to go to Chicago for higher studies soon.
