HCA row: panel formed

‘At the last meeting, it was decided that a show-cause notice would be issued against the same treasurer’

Internal bickering in the Hyderabad Cricket Association took another ugly turn when the Executive Committee, by a majority, decided to form a three-member inquiry committee to probe into any irregularities committed by its own treasurer, Naresh Sharma.

Interestingly, at the last EC meeting, it was decided that a show-cause notice would be issued against the same treasurer on the same grounds.

A separate probe has been ordered into the canopy project (roofing of the northern and the southern stands) at the Uppal Stadium.

The treasurer had moved the court on the grounds that the president and the secretary bypassed the HCA Constitution in the transfer of funds for payment towards a catering house in connection with the recent Test match between India and New Zealand. “They completed the financial transaction without my signature,” he complained.

At the EC meeting convened late on Saturday night and chaired by president G. Vinod, the panel members - Seshnarayan, Amarnath and Srinivas Reddy - were named to conduct a probe.
