Buoyed by the successful beautification of a part of the city in a month for the recently-concluded Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the GHMC is soon going to invite tenders for the beautification of the underpass under construction near Ayyappa Society junction.

After visiting similar underpass in New Delhi recently, and witnessing the arrangements for the GES-2016, Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan has issued instructions to officials to consider laying of tiles in an effort to make the structure aesthetically appealing to the viewers, a statement from GHMC informed.

Accordingly, the corporation has called for tenders for beautification of the underpass. Last date for tenders is December 8, and the works will be completed by the end of second week of this month, officials said.

The underpass, otherwise, has been completed two months before the deadline, they said.

The 10-meter wide and 450-meter long underpass would be built in two lanes between Ayyappa Society and Kondapur.

The busy junction witnesses a total of 9,000 vehicles plying on road per day, which is expected to increase to 19,000 by 2035.

The underpass is being built as part of the junction improvement works under the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).
