A total of 165 Ganesh action teams are being deployed to ensure order during the Ganesh immersion procession on September 5. They will work three shifts, to cover 388.5 square kilometre area along the procession route, and take care of sanitation and other requirements. Each of the action teams will have sanitary supervisor, three sanitary field assistants and 21 sanitation workers. A total of 295 sanitary supervisors, 688 SFAs, and 9,710 workers will work round-the-clock in shifts. A thousand entomology workers too will work at the immersion points.
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan revealed the details of Ganesh procession arrangements to the media after a convergence meeting with the Ganesh Utsav Samithi and officials from various departments, on Thursday. GHMC, HMWSSB, the police, HMDA, irrigation and revenue officials are working in coordination to see that all arrangements were in place. A total of 117 repair works have been identified with an estimated cost of ₹ 4.67 crore. 20 men’s toilets and 10 women’s toilets were being put in place on Necklace Road, NTR Marg and Tank Bund. A total of 27 large cranes have been deployed, 18 of them at Tank Bund and nine at NTR Marg. Six vehicles have been deployed especially to remove garbage, and the remains of the idols.
That apart, mini tippers, JCBs, and sweeping machines were being pushed into service. Special arrangements have been made at the 23 designated lakes for immersion, which includes Saroornagar Lake, Kapra Lake, Durgam Cheruvu, Gangaram Pedda Cheruvu, IDL Tank, Pragathi Nagar Tank and others.
