Medical services, including elective surgeries at the Gandhi Hospital’s orthopaedic wing, were hit on Thursday following an altercation between senior doctors from the orthopaedic and anaesthesia wings. Doctors from both wings boycotted services after the squabble.
Almost come to blows
The angry doctors reportedly almost came to blows on Wednesday evening over some issue. Later, in a huff, they decided to boycott medical services from Thursday morning onwards. While patients suffered, doctors did not attend to outpatient wings, operation theatres and the casualty.
Gandhi Hospital Superintendent M. Chandra Sekhar and other senior doctors later held a meeting with the protesting doctors.
“There was a communication gap between senior doctors from both the departments over a very small issue, which escalated into a big row. Normality was restored soon,” senior hospital doctors said.
