The Banjara Hills police on Thursday detained car driver G. Sagar, his younger brother Srikanth and their parents, Nagaiah and Swaroopa, in connection with the murder of a scrap shop owner Raj Kumar.
The quartet went to the house of Kumar on Wednesday and picked up a quarrel, accusing him of threatening Sagar. Earlier, the scrap shop owner warned Sagar not to stalk his daughter, an engineering student.
“Sagar and his family members went to Kumar’s house and beat him up for threatening him,” the police said. Following the assault, Kumar collapsed on the floor. He was shifted to a hospital where he later died.
During interrogation, Sagar refuted the charge that he sexually harassed the victim’s daughter. He, however, maintained that he used to speak with the woman over mobile phone. Investigators said Sagar’s mobile phone call data record is being analysed to verify his claims.
Kidnappers at large
Meanwhile, the kidnappers of Commercial Taxes Joint Commissioner Radha Krishna continued to evade the police. Krishna had escaped from his abductors, which included his car driver Raju and his associates.
