Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender has appealed to the farming community not to resort to distress sale of paddy as the government had made elaborate arrangements for the procurement of paddy by opening more procurement centres at their doorstep to provide minimum support price.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he also warned the traders and millers of serious action if they deny MSP to the farmers in the pretext of moisture content.
Appealing the farmers to get the clean and dried up paddy to the procurement centres to get a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹1510 per quintal for A grade variety and ₹1470 for B grade variety paddy, the Minister also advised the farmers to get their produce as early as possible to the procurement centres in view of the possibility of hailstorms lashing the region.
Arrangements in place
Stating that all the IKP, PACS and DCMS centres were equipped with all equipment such as moisture testing machines, paddy cleaning machines, he said.
that they made all arrangements such as erection of tents, drinking water, bathrooms and tarpaulins at the procurements for the benefit of farmers. “We are taking all measures to ensure that all the farmers get MSP for their produce by procuring them from the procurement centres,” he maintained.
He also said that the Joint Collectors in all the districts were instructed to open call centres to provide necessary guidance to the farmers with regard to the procurement of paddy. He said that they were taking all measures for the proper transportation of the paddy from the procurement centres. Legislator G. Kamalakar, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh and others were also present.
