eINDIA AWARD 2014 received at Trivandrum by Commissioner of Civil Supplies and team.

The ePDS system being implemented by the Civil Supplies Department of Telangana has been adjudged among the best projects in eIndia Awards 2014 and has been presented with eINDIA Government to Citizens (G2C) Project of the Year award.

The award was received by Commissioner of Civil Supplies C. Partha Sarathi, Chief Rationing Officer of Hyderabad M. Padma and Technical Director of Food Informatics Division, NIC, G. Shivaji, on Saturday night at the investiture ceremony at eINDIA Governance Summit being held at Kovalam in Kerala. A commendation certification was also presented to them.

Mr. Paratha Sarathi, speaking from Kerala, said the Civil Supplies Department had been utilising the ePDS online software developed by NIC in the recent past effectively to digitise the entire ration card data base, to allocate essential commodities to BPL families through fair price shops, for seeding the ration card database with Aadhaar numbers and to eliminate bogus/duplicate cards and units with Aadhaar authentication.

By implementing the software, the department was able to deactivate 11.71 lakh bogus ration cards from June to October and about 69.71 lakh bogus units (persons) were also deactivated.

The department was able to save 24,093 tonnes of rice and 7,406 kilo litres of kerosene every month from October.

In Hyderabad, it helped about 14 per cent monthly savings of rice and kerosene.

He stated that the new ration/food security cards would also be issued with the help of ePDS software by availing the validated Intensive Household Survey data.
