Indicating his seriousness about shifting administration to the new capital, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said employees should be prepared to shift to the new capital city.
It would not be easy to leave a city where they had been living for decades but arrangements were being made to take administration closer to the people. Temporary offices would be set up in the new capital at the earliest and accommodation would be provided for about 25,000 people, Mr. Naidu said speaking at the Legislative Council here on Friday.
Sharing his plans for development, Mr. Naidu said State has abundant resources but what is more important is their effective utilisation. If one could do at least 20 per cent development, 80 per cent of results would follow. In the coming five years, Rs.27,000 crore to Rs.28,000 crore would be required for completion of irrigation and other projects, he said. Despite financial constraints, it was imperative to construct a good capital, he said.
Emphasising on inter-linking Godavari, Krishna and Penna to prevent drought in the State, he said Pattiseema project would be useful till Polavaram project was ready for diverting Godavari waters to Krishna basin and from there to Rayalaseema.
