Three persons were killed and seven sustained bullet injuries when two groups clashed over the issue of burning of a flag on Wednesday. Another five sustained injuries in stone pelting and stabbings.

Around 40 persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the violence and 17 cases were registered till Sunday. The number of cases is expected to rise as a few affected families have not lodged complaints yet.

The Cyberabad Commissioner, C.V. Anand, held a meeting with the representatives of both the communities who assured to maintain peace and co-operate with the police.

Meanwhile, activists of the Darsgah Jihad-O-Shahadath staged a demonstration at Madina Building condemning the firing by BSF personnel at Kishanbagh. The police quickly rounded them up and shifted them to Kanchanbagh police station. They were released in the evening.
