Finally, the home team fans had something to cheer about. An improved performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad helped it record its first win in four games at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Uppal on Tuesday.
Though the ‘Gayle Storm’ was missing, it was the class of Virat Kohli that sent 28,357 fans into raptures in the last IPL match here between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. For a team which lost three straight home games, it was a welcome change of fortunes. It was apparent that people longed to see the SRH win at least one game and lustily cheered every clean hit from the bats of openers Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner.
When the SRH chase began, clouds hovered above presenting a picturesque sight under lights. But there were no showers and the fans enjoyed the much cooler ambience out there. It was also another game which reminded of the camaraderie amongst the players of the rival teams.
Even SRH mentor V.V.S Laxman was seen sharing a few lighter moments with the Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan before the start of the game. So, it’s all over for Hyderabad fans as far watching IPL matches are concerned this season. Next edition, the IPL will be held in the ‘Telangana’ State!
