With just a day left for the annual ‘Milad-un-Nabi’ programme, hectic activity is on at Darussalam, the Majlis headquarters. Huge ‘shamianas’ have been erected in the sprawling ground and chairs arranged for the programme to be held on Thursday evening.
Finishing touches
Scores of persons were seen sprucing up the party office, giving the exteriors a fresh coat of paint on Wednesday. It is the Charminar legislator, Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, who is looking after the arrangements for the two-day programme.
Also, Majlis general secretary Mr. Quadri is holding fort with party president Asaduddin Owaisi, who is in jail. “We are hopeful Asad sab will be back,” said Mr. Quadri when asked if he would be presiding over Thursday’s programme.
Public grievances
Meanwhile, it was business as usual at Darussalam. All Majlis MLAs and MLCs were present to listen to public grievances. However, suspense continued over the presence of Mr. Asaduddin for Thursday’s Milad programme. Many people were seen enquiring with the Majlis legislators on the issue. For the last few years, the Majlis is observing the ‘Rahmat-ul-lilalameen’ programme with great enthusiasm, with hundreds of persons dropping in to listen to religious discourses given by noted ulemas.
For Thursday’s programme, Maulana Mufti Syed Muzaffar Shah of QTV fame has been invited as the chief guest. Besides, a host of scholars, including a few from Pakistan, are likely to attend the programme.
Others such as Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Syed Masood Husain Mujtehadi, Syed Taqi Raza Abedi and Syed Shah Zaheerudin Sufi will address the ‘jalsa’. On Friday evening, a ‘natia mushaira’ will be organised at the same place in which noted poets such as Dr. Majid Deobani, Zia Tonki, Afsar Amrohi, Azam Badayuni and others will present their poems in the praise of the Prophet.
