Ration dealers stage demonstration

Demanding that the Government consider the fair price shop dealers as government employees, ration dealers of the Twin Cities staged a protest demonstration here on Tuesday.

Coming together under the banner of Hyderabad Ration Dealers Welfare Association, the dealers demanded an honorarium of ₹30,000 per month, besides various other sops.

Government has not delivered the additional commission of ₹17 per quintal in lieu of distribution through e-POS terminals for the past nine months, the statement by the association noted, and demanded release of the same. Commission allotted by the Centre under the Food Security Act too has not been paid since 2013, they said association noted, and demanded immediate payment of arrears. Health cards and insurance for the dealers, shop management expenditure borne by the government, loan facility to the dealers, and two per cent depreciation on stock during inspections were some other demands.
