Army to help tackle rain disasters

The army has agreed to work with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the event of sudden floods and heavy rain during monsoon to tackle any disruption to life in the city.

GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy held a meeting with military officials here on Saturday to take preparatory measures for the upcoming monsoon keeping in view the difficult situation faced last year due to heavy and incessant rains and flooding in various areas.

List of areas

The army officials sought a list of low lying areas that face threat of inundation, water stagnation, and likely road damage in the rainy season.

Mr. Reddy invited army officers for discussion on disaster management during the city conservancy meeting to be held on March 4.
