256 jail inmates write BRAOU eligibility test

Tests conducted in 185 centres

The eligibility test of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) saw 256 jail inmates trying their luck for higher studies across the two Telugu States.

The test was also held at various central prisons, including Central Prison at Cherlapally, where 60 men and 11 women appeared; while 70 people appeared in Warangal, in Telangana.

In Andhra Pradesh, 60 in Rajamundry and 40 in Kadapa central prisons appeared for the test.

Across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, 16,351 candidates appeared for the test conducted in 185 examination centres.

BRAOU Vice-Chancellor K. Seetharama Rao visited the Central Prison at Cherlapally to interact with the prisoners taking the test.

Visits centres

Deputy Superintendent of Jails, Central Prison Cherlapally, Dasharadham and jailor and coordinator of the Study Centre Devla Naik were among those who received the Vice Chancellor.

Later Prof. Rao and other officers inspected the examination centres at Railway Junior College, Lalaguda and Government Junior College, YMCA, Secunderabad. The successful candidates in the test will be given admission into B.A., B.Com and B.Sc courses for the academic year 2017-18 at BRAOU.
