A 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youngster in a movie theatre in Secunderabad here on Monday.

Market police said that the rape survivor, a resident of Warasiguda, had befriended K. Bhikshapati (23), an excavator operator and a native of Jangaon, through Facebook few months ago and developed a relationship.

On Monday, when he came to Hyderabad to visit some of his relatives here, they decided to meet and spent some time together, said M. Mattaiah, inspector, Market. “They visited Indira Park and later Bhikshapati took her to a movie in Prashant theatre in the afternoon. Later, inside the theatre, he raped her by luring her with a fake promise of marriage,” he said.

Based on a complaint by the rape survivor, a case was registered against Bhikshapati on Monday evening. Mr. Mattaiah said that the accused was nabbed on Wednesday and was remanded on Thursday.
