Three men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly robbing people at gunpoint in various parts of the Capital. The police have seized three firearms and three motorcycles used in committing the crimes.

The police had received several complaints from victims who alleged that they were robbed of their vehicles and money while travelling around central Delhi. The police then identified a gang of four-five members with firearms and motorcycles who were operating in the area.

Based on information received by the police, the accused — Kanhaiya alias Kishan, Bharat Kumar Goswami alias Azad, and Azad alias Gaurav — were apprehended from a service road behind Vijay Ghat bus stand near ‘Delhi Chalo’ park behind Red Fort.

The accused told the police that another man, Sanjeet, used to operate based on information given by one Jeetu, who used to track the movement of people travelling from Old Delhi. This information was further shared with Kanhaiya who would then plan and execute the robbery.

“Jeetu and Sanjeet are still at large and we are looking for them. We have recovered over ₹3 lakh, three motorcycles, three firearms and five cartridges,” said DCP (Crime Branch) Rajesh Deo.
