Two days after suspending 20 DTC drivers for not turning up for duty, Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday suspended six employees of the Transport Department on the charge of corruption.

The Minister has also initiated departmental proceedings against the officials, who were found collecting bribes at the Azadpur flyover by the Minister himself during a midnight inspection on May 1. Officials said all these employees were collecting bribes from truck drivers.

“Of the officials placed under suspension, five belong to the enforcement wing of the Transport Department and one to the Delhi Transport Corporation. They are ASI Vijay Kumar, ASI Babu Ram, head constables Pramod Kumar, Jaiveer and Jitendra Kumar, and DTC driver Praveen,” a statement from the Delhi Government said.
