Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday inaugurated a Sports Pharmacy Centre and an Incubation Centre at the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU).
‘Model centre’
Speaking at the function, Mr. Sisodia said that the government expects DPSRU to be established as a model pharmacy centre in the world, which would identify and bridge the gap in the drug industry.
“Research and innovations should be its top priority. A lot of money has been invested on institutions like DPSRU, and the students who pass out need to think about what they can give back to the society,” he said.
Education Secretary, Punya Salila Srivastava, said that right from the inception of the university, expectations have been high and it was commendable that new buildings have come up, new courses have been introduced and the intake capacity has increased since the university opened in September, 2015.
Growth of industry
The university said that the Sports Pharmacy Centre will have 80 students admitted in the first year and will train students in sports nutrition, psychology, medicine, pharmacology, physiology, bio-mechanics as well as other branches of sports sciences.
The administration hopes that it can help students in achieving their dream to work in the sports industry, thereby resulting in its growth in India.
