RTOs to remain open all 7 days

July 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - New Delhi:

In a relief to Delhiites, who had to stand in long queues for driving licences and renewal of permits, the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) in the Capital will remain open seven days a week starting Sunday (July 10).

Longer open hours

The Transport Department of the Delhi government has also extended the working hours and now the RTOs will remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., instead of 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

However, the decision has not gone down well with the department staff.

“The department is facing huge shortage of staff due to which there is huge backlog of pending applications. Working even on Sundays will not solve the problem,” said an official said requesting anonymity.
