Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has instructed Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi to ensure that all police stations and other complexes of Delhi Police are cleaned within a week.
The Minister also announced that he may pay a surprise visit to any of the police stations or other buildings after one week.
A couple of tweets was posted through the ministry’s official handle @HMOIndia on Saturday morning, the same day Mr. Bassi cleaned the Tilak Marg police station here as part of the recently launched Swachh Bharat Campaign. Mr. Bassi was also joined by other senior officers from his force.
Welcoming the Home Minister’s stance on the issue, Mr. Bassi said the issue of cleanliness had always been a priority for his men and had been discussed in his past meetings with Mr. Singh as well.
“The Delhi Police is taking the issue of cleanliness seriously. A case in point that shows our dedication is the Mandir Marg police station. The Prime Minister had come there and cleaned it up. If one goes there today, he will find the campus sparkling clean. Our efforts are on to repeat the exercise in all police stations,” said Mr. Bassi.
