Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president J.P. Agarwal, who is also the Member of Parliament from North East Delhi, said on Saturday that the Najafgarh drain will be covered by the Flood Department from Vijay Nagar to Hakikat Nagar and on the covered area shops will be built.
Mr Agarwal, who visited the Timarpur Assembly segment along with Delhi Development Minister Rajkumar Chauhan and area MLA Surender Pal Bittoo, said this was one of the many development schemes that have been prepared to change the face of the constituency.
The MP said a mini sports complex was also being planned on the vacant DDA at Dussehra Ground near Vijay Nagar. He said Mr Chauhan has asked the concerned officials to start work on the project at the earliest so that the plot could be put to good use.
As for the other projects in the area, Mr Agarwal said a 1.5 km stretch of the approach road to Hakikat Nagar would be made of concrete; and a Community Centre would be built at the Ramlila ground at Bhai Parmanand Colony.
Besides, he said the cremation ground at Wazirabad would be rebuilt and for this the Government would spend Rs 57 lakh. The Wazirabad Shiv Mandir chaupal would also be renovated. And a proposal to construct a community centre at Gopalpur has been put before the Development Minister on the request of the people. This proposal, he said, has been accepted.
Mr. Chauhan on his part said special attention would be given to North East Delhi parliamentary constituency and a number of development projects are being implemented there.
