In order to steer clear of last-minute hiccups, many parents whose children have to appear for the CBSE board examination on Monday are moving into hotels or staying over at houses of friends and relatives near examination centres.
Responding to announcements about traffic restrictions and uncertainty over whether vehicles would be permitted to enter the Capital from other parts of the NCR due to the “gherao” Parliament call by the Jats, “jittery” parents are not taking any chance.
Author Ratna Vira, who lives in Gurugram, said she decided to move to Delhi on Sunday, closer to her daughter’s examination centre, to ensure that she gets there on time.
‘So much confusion’
“My daughter has spent over a year preparing for the mathematics examination. As a parent, I need to ensure that she is in a proper mindset before the exam. On Sunday, there was so much confusion that we decided not to risk crossing the border into Delhi.”
Many parents whose children study in central Delhi and are scheduled to appear for the exam on Monday are worried about reaching the centre on time.
Mathematics teacher Anupama Bisht said she was flooded with calls from anxious students over the weekend. “Even after the protest was called off, I advised parents to spend the night as close to the examination centre as possible. There should be no added stress for the students,” added Ms. Bisht.
The CBSE, meanwhile, has already issued an advisory for students of Classes X and XII, asking parents to take necessary measures to reach the examination centres well before the scheduled time.
