Gurugram residents no longer have to visit the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) office for birth and death certificates as the civic body has launched the facility of online application for such documents.

Medical Officer (MCG) Ashish Singla said the new initiative would save time of the citizens as they need not travel to the MCG office for such applications and can avail this facility from the comfort of their home. The MCG will also courier these certificates to the applicants and bear the cost of the delivery.

Visit the website

The online application can be made by clicking on the ‘Birth and death application’ icon available on the MCG website.

In case of any objection, the applicant will be informed by the MCG through an SMS on the applicant’s mobile number, so that the applicant can address the objection.

He added that once the certificate is ready, the MCG will send the documents to the applicant through speed post. The applicant won’t be charged for the first copy of the certificate.

MCG Commissioner V. Umashankar said the facility will benefit the citizens as they won’t be required to come to the MCG office. The civic has already taken payment of property tax online. Over 70% of citizens are availing the facility, said an official.
