: Two minor sisters from East Delhi’s Anand Vihar were allegedly abducted and gang-raped by two brothers in Haldwani.
According to the police, the girls – Sudha (16) and Sapna (15) [both names changed] – had left home on June 12 for a trip to Bareilly and were abducted from there.
Promise of work
“When they reached Bareilly (around night), they came across the two men who asked about their purpose of visit. Their incessant queries scared the girls and they also told them that staying there could be risky. Prayas told them that they were looking for a volunteer for organising an event and the girls could stay over with them,” said a police officer.
“On June 13, they were taken to Haldwani, where they were kept in a rented house for a week and raped by the men,” said the officer.
However, Sapna got hold of the mobile phone of one of the men and informed her mother, who informed the police.
A case under relevant provisions of the IPC and PCOSO has been registered and the girls have been rescued.
The accused have been arrested.
