Hot conditions prevailed in the Capital on Monday with the mercury soaring to above 40 degrees Celsius mark in some parts of Delhi.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose recording is considered the official figure for the city, recorded a maximum temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season’s average.
Areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar registered a maximum temperature of 43, 40.6, 41.5 and 42.6 degrees Celsius, respectively, a MeT department official said.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.5 degrees Celsius, four notches above the normal, the official said.
No relief expected
Humidity levels oscillated between 63 and 23 per cent.
According to the Met office, the city is likely to reel under heatwave-like conditions this week.
The weatherman has predicted mainly clear skies for Tuesday.
“The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 41 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively," the official said.
On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 39.8 and 21.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
