A 35-year-old bus driver died in north Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla on Monday evening while he was trying to change one of the tyres of his vehicle.

Identified as Sandeep Dass, the victim had been driving the private bus for the last three years.

Changing tyre

“Of late, he felt that there was some problem with the left tyre of the bus. To change it, he parked the bus in one corner of the road and started to remove the tyre using a jack,” the bus conductor told the police.

The conductor, who was the only one present inside the bus at the time, said that within minutes of Dass getting down, he heard him call out loudly for help. He stepped out to find that his face had been crushed under the tyre which he was trying to remove.

Brought dead

He immediately raised an alarm and alerted the passersby.

A PCR call was made and a team was rushed to rescue the man but by the time he was taken to the hospital, he had succumbed to injuries. He was declared brought dead on arrival.
