Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on Friday constituted an Expenditure Finance Committee to clear projects of the Delhi Government worth up to Rs.100 crore.
The seven-member committee will be head by Chief Secretary S.K. Srivastava.
Other members of the committee include M.M. Kutty, Principal Secretary (Finance/Planning); Arun Baroka Principal Secretary (PWD); B. K. Sharma, Director (Planning) and Deputy Secretary Finance (Infrastructure) apart from the Principal Secretary or Secretary of the concerned Department.
Officials said the committee will concur sanctions of expenditure on schemes/projects/capital works relating to construction of roads, flyovers, foot over-bridges, subways, school buildings, hospital buildings, etc. up to a value of Rs.100 crore.
“As per limits fixed for concurring expenditure on capital works, the HoD of the department concerned is competent to concur expenditure sanctions for capital works up to Rs.5 crore. For over Rs.5 crore, the Finance Department is competent to concur expenditure sanctions worth Rs.10 crore for capital works, while for projects worth between Rs.10 crore and Rs.100 crore, the department would need concurrence of Expenditure Finance Committee,” an official said.
The capital works involving expenditure of more than Rs.100 crore value would need concurrence of Cabinet and if it is not in existence then such products need concurrence of the Lieutenant-Governor.
