Mobin, the alleged main conspirator behind the murder of builder-cum-gangster Khaleel Ahmed, who was shot dead outside his office in Lahori Gate last month, has been arrested by the North District police.
On May 29, when Khaleel was standing outside his office along with several others, Mobin arrived there and fired a few gunshots, some of which hit Khaleel Ahmad and another person. Khaleel later succumbed to his injuries.
Four days later, the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested Rishi in connection with the murder. He purportedly told the police that having fallen out with Khaleel, Mobin had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him and included Rishi in the plan. Rishi also admitted to have arranged an SUV which Mobin drove to reach Lahori Gate. After this, the two left Delhi for Agra and when Rishi came back, he was nabbed.
The police had been looking for Mobin since then. On Wednesday, after receiving a tip off, the police laid a trap near Faridabad Bus Stand on Ring Road and arrested Mobin when he reached there.
According to the police, Mobin and Khaleel had fallen out as the latter had raised objection to his drinking habits and had also insulted the family members of a girl he liked.
“They had known each other for the last 15 years when they had first met in Tihar Jail where they were serving their sentences. After fissures developed in their relations, Mobin was removed from the job and was planning to avenge the humiliation,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sindhu Pillai.
