Kirpal’s family to get relief: Punjab govt

On the lines of Sarabjit Singh case, Punjab Government would extend all help and relief to the family of Kirpal Singh who died in a Pakistani jail earlier this week in mysterious circumstances.

Stating this here, Harcharan Bains, Advisor to the Chief Minister on National Affairs, said here that Chief Minister Parksh Singh Badal was deeply disturbed at the tragic development and the trauma and agonies suffered by Kirpal Singh in Pakistani jail where he was lodged since 1992.

Mr Badal said that lending a helping hand to the family of Kirpal Singh was the moral duty of the State government.

Expressing solidarity with the family of Kirpal Singh, the Chief Minister promised whole-hearted support and co-operation to them in this hour of grief.

The Chief Minister also assured the family of another life convict Nanak Singh, lodged in Pakistan jail, about ensuring his safety and security.

Mr Badal said the state government was in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs with regard to prevailing upon their Pakistan counterpart to secure safe return of Nanak Singh to India immediately. - PTI
