Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday met the woman who was attacked with a brick by a traffic policeman in Golf Links here and lauded her courage, while affirming that the Capital needed citizens like her who could speak up against corrupt practices.
“We are proud of you. Delhi needs citizens like you, as I alone cannot change the system. We all need to work together to change the corrupt practices prevailing here,” Mr. Kejriwal told 40-year-old Ramanjeet Kaur, who was accompanied by her husband Gurdeep.
Ms. Kaur was attacked by traffic constable Satish Chandra on Monday. She was driving a two-wheeler with her daughters riding pillion at the time of the attack.
She has alleged that the policeman stopped her, demanded a bribe of Rs.200 and flung a brick at her when she refused. The incident has been captured on camera.
The constable was dismissed from service and arrested following widespread outrage after the video went viral.
According to official sources, the couple told the Chief Minister that they were not given a copy of the first information report and that her injuries were not treated properly.
