Former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, whose role in the alleged scams in the Delhi Jal Board is being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Branch, is being allowed to “dictate the terms” of the inquiry, DJB chairperson Kapil Mishra alleged on Saturday.

Expresses concern

Mr. Mishra, who had written to Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung on June 13 asking for an inquiry into the alleged scam in hiring water tankers in 2012, sent another letter to the L-G on Saturday — this time expressing concern at the ACB’s treatment of Ms. Dikshit.

Mr. Mishra had been summoned by the ACB on July 4, while Ms. Dikshit, who was the chairperson of the DJB when the alleged scam took place, has been asked to appear before the anti-graft panel at her convenience.

The Hindu had reported on Friday that Ms. Dikshit had sought details of the charges against her. In a letter to Mr. Jung, she asked for the details of the fact-finding committee set up by Mr. Mishra to probe the tanker scam. Reacting to the development, Mr. Mishra wrote to the L-G saying it was “shocking” that Ms. Dikshit was being treated like the “boss” by the ACB, while he being the complainant was questioned like an accused.

“There are five FIRs against her for various corruption cases pending with the ACB. Instead of questioning her, the ACB is allowing her to dictate the terms of the investigation,” said Mr. Mishra.

The Lieutenant-Governor’s office had referred the case to the ACB after Mr. Mishra wrote to him submitting the report of the fact-finding committee.

The report pointed to a Rs.400 crore scam in hiring stainless steel tankers in 2012 when Ms. Dikshit was presiding over the DJB.
